Born on February 22, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri, Charleson began her soap opera journey with the short-lived series *A Flame in the Wind* in 1964. She later appeared on *As The World Turns* in 1966. However, it was her iconic portrayal of Monica Quartermaine on *General Hospital*, beginning on August 16, 1977, that cemented her legacy in soap opera history.
Charleson holds the distinction of being the longest-serving actress on General Hospital, portraying Monica with remarkable grace, resilience, and depth. Over an impressive career spanning nearly five decades, she earned four Daytime Emmy nominations (1980, 1982, 1983, and 1995) for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, underscoring her exceptional talent.
