EJ pours a drink, toasts Stefano's portrait, and acknowledges the town's disdain. Declaring himself his father's son and always one step ahead, he toasts to no one, saying, "I win," before being shot. Surprised, he asks, "What are you doing?" Chad discovers EJ and calls 911. Kate arrives at the pub, contacts Roman, and informs him she needs his presence. She notices Ava with a suitcase, preparing to leave Salem for Hong Kong. Roman arrives, and Ava hands him the key, receiving his good wishes. Outside, Ava throws the gun in the trash can and hurries away. Roman recalls Johnny asking about his gun and finds it missing. He retrieves it from his back pocket and puts it back. Chad informs Johnny that EJ has been shot. He tells the women about his father's shooting. Chanel, shocked, offers to accompany him, but he is indifferent, saying EJ got what he deserved. Chanel appears shocked, while Paulina seems resolute.
